Dear Mustang Supporters,

The 2012 football season is upon us here at John Muir High School.  It has been an exciting and

memorable football off-season.  We have a new and experienced head football coach, Muir alumni

John Hardy. Coach Hardy has been hard at work and has accomplished many pre-season milestones.

Many of the assistance football coaches have been hired, a new weights/conditioning coach is on

board and the football technology has been upgraded with "Hudl". The coaching staff has been

preparing themselves for the upcoming year by attending football camps during the off-season.    

For the 2012 season we are requiring our players to increase their academic performance and are

required to maintain at least a "C" G.P.A in their core academic classes.  The players are being

encouraged to participate in other sports and activities at John Muir as well as staying physical fit by

lifting weights after school.

In 2011 the John Muir Football team had the longest run in CIF game play in several years.  Of course

we won that famous game (The Turkey Tussle).   We are proud of our athletes and their

accomplishments on the field as well as their academic achievements.  We are extremely pleased

that all of our student athletes were eligible to participate in the CIF games. This year our goal is to

be Pacific League and CIF Champs and again have all our student athletes eligible to participate in CIF

and move on to college.

In our effort to restore some of the historic John Muir traditions, the football coaching staff would

like to host at least one passing league tournament, purchase a new score board and purchase new

weights for the weight room.  As we look around the athletic department, the weight room is

noticeably ageing as most of the weights were purchased in the early 1980’s.   Due to cutbacks and

budget restraints, the school and the district allow minimal funding for athletics program and facility

improvements.  As a football program we are reaching out to our faithful John Muir Alumni &

supporters that have a vested interest in our student athletes.  In our efforts to make this year’s

program a success we are asking for monetary donations of at least Twenty dollars ($20.00) to help

with these purchases.  Any and all donations are greatly appreciated.  

Our goal is to raise ten thousand dollars ($10,000.00) towards improvements and programs for the

2012 football season.
